Poker Trail Ride
READY FOR SOME FUN, FUN, FUN!!
- Most poker rides included tasks along the trail for which horse and rider gathered points, such as walking through a sea of plastic bottles, walking into water and along a truck with blasting sounds of barking dogs and machinery, etc.
- NW Poker Rides, Trail Riding & Horse Camping has 1,644 members. Here is a group for posting Poker Rides, Trail Rides & Horse Camping! Feel free to post poker rides, trail rides & camping sites, or ask questions. Let us know the good & bad. There will be no drama allowed, no badgering others, no putting others down, no harassing, no bullying.
POKER RIDE: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25th.
Rain Date or Back-Up Date (if needed) – Sunday, November 8th
SFHA Poker Horse Trail Ride (open to the public).
In the beautiful Tahoe National Forest, Gold Country Trails Council hosted one of the oldest and best attended Poker Rides in northern California. In addition to being the main fund raiser for the Trails Council, it provided a memorable event to meet old and new friends, eat wonderful home-made food, and win loads of exquisite prizes!
Spenceville Wildlife Area – Brushy Creek (off the paved Chuck Yeager Road – southwest of the Waldo Road intersection)
$45.00 entry fee for adults – includes ride + one poker hand + BBQ lunch + goodie bag.
$35.00 entry fee for kids (12 years & under) – includes ride + one poker hand + BBQ lunch + goodie bag.
Non-riders who will be at the event must also complete an entry form, sign the liability form, and pay the entry fee (non-riders will get one hand of poker, the BBQ lunch, and the goodie bag . . . and yes, they will pay the same entry fee amount) and will be included in the total 150 entry maximum. Because of COVID-19, we cannot have anyone at the ride who is not a pre-registered participant.
In addition, everyone has the option to purchase up to 2 extra poker hands (one for $5.00 or two for $10.00) which will increase your chances of winning. In addition to the extra purchased poker hands option, everyone can also wear a Halloween costume or a prior year SFHA poker ride t-shirt, tank top, or sweatshirt and you will get another extra hand of poker for FREE! Sorry, no costume contest this year. The maximum number of hands per person is four (one that comes with your entry + 2 purchased extra hands + 1 FREE hand for wearing a costume or SFHA shirt when you arrive at the table to get your cards opened).
Because of COVID-19, we will not have any SFHA poker ride shirts as an option to purchase this year . . . we will also not have an entry booth so that is why everyone MUST be pre-registered and the liability release form signed prior to arrival. We will have an expedited system when opening the poker cards this year and everyone will be spread out.
Leave for the ride at your leisure anytime between 7:00 and 10:00 a.m. Lunch starts at approximately 12:00 p.m. (will be a “box lunch” type of lunch). Poker prizes awarded at approximately 1:00 p.m. LOTS AND LOTS OF SUPER AWESOME PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED!
