Victorian Transport has announced on December 17th that they will be running free public transport on Christmas Day and New Year's Day to 'ensure Victorian’s are able to celebrate safely and reconnect with family and friends'.

'On Christmas Day, Metropolitan and regional public transport will run to a regular public holiday timetable and will be free from 3am until 3am on Boxing Day,' they shared in a statement.

'Trains, trams and buses will run to a Sunday timetable with Night Network services running through the night. Passengers using a myki are not required to touch on and off and will not be charged if they do. Passengers on V/Line services still need to book their travel on reserved services and will be issued a ticket free of charge.'

Queensland:

TransLink Queensland has shared updated timetables for Christmas and Boxing Day as well as New Year's Eve.

There are planned track closures coming for Queensland, however, with Cross River Rail revealing in a statement:

'South East Queensland commuters are being urged to plan their Christmas holiday travel well in advance, with track closures required to allow for important Cross River Rail works.
